This historical fiction is a chilling account of Hitler's rise to power in post World War I Germany. The book concludes with the 1933 Berlin book burning. This book makes me very thankful for all of my books, our public and school library systems, and all of our book stores.
Caroline by Sarah Miller (Harper Collins Publishers)
This book is about Caroline Ingalls, mother of famous pioneer girl, Laura Ingalls Wilder. I liked this adult perspective of Little House on the Prairie. It inspired me to do some research about the Ingalls and Wilder families who lived through the end of the 1800's and into the 1900's all around the American prairie states (Wisconsin, Minnesota, the Dakotas, Kansas, and Missouri). I learned more about the real life of these American pioneers. There is a lot more to their story than the pleasant memories I have of the television show from the 1970's.
